Our Airport. Our Community. Our Future.
Our Airport. Our Community. Our Future.
The South Burnett community is calling for transparency, accountability and responsible planning in relation to Council’s proposed 434-person workforce accommodation camp at Kingaroy Airport.
This campaign is not about opposing renewable energy or the Tarong West Wind Farm. It is about ensuring decisions affecting public land, community assets and future generations are made openly, fairly and in the best interests of the region.
Many residents, businesses, airport users and community organisations have raised concerns about the proposal, including the planning process, impacts on strategic airport land, community facilities, traffic, local businesses and the long-term future of the airport precinct.
We believe every major planning decision should be supported by genuine community consultation, independent assessment and transparent decision-making.
Together we are asking Council to:
Release all relevant information relating to the proposal.
Explain how the decision was reached.
Undertake independent planning, traffic and social impact assessments.
Properly assess alternative accommodation options.
Protect the long-term future of Kingaroy Airport and surrounding community assets.
